Overflow has consequences
When a gutter overflows, water can repeatedly wet walls, fascia boards and the ground beside the building. That may contribute to deterioration or damp. The cause could be a blockage, failed fitting or an incorrect gutter fall.
Check joints and outlets
Water dripping at a joint may indicate a damaged seal or movement between sections. An overflow near an outlet can suggest a blocked downpipe. Observations from ground level help identify where an inspection should start.
Look at the complete roofline
Gutter repairs should consider brackets, supporting fascia and downpipe connections. New guttering attached to deteriorated supporting material may not provide a lasting solution.
